WASILLA — Sparked by a 24-point fourth quarter, the Wasilla Warriors raced to a 68-41 girls basketball win over Kodiak Saturday at Wasilla High.
Alysha Devine scored a game-high 20 points to help Wasilla complete the weekend sweep of the Bears and stay undefeated. Devine also finished with five rebounds, four assists and four steals in the victory. Alexis Imoe scored for Wasilla, and Kyla Dinkel and Savannah Burke had 11 each.
Friday, seven different Warriors had at least two steals each as Wasilla beat Kodiak 54-43. Jenna Ford led the Warriors with four steals.
Dinkel furnished a team-high 13 points.
KODIAK — The Kodiak Bears used a pair of late free throws to edge Wasilla 65-63 in Kodiak Saturday night.
Elijah Hiner hit two free throws with 22.4 seconds left in regulation to break a 63-63 tie and help Kodiak secure the weekend sweep of the visiting Warriors. Kodiak needed overtime to beat Wasilla 61-56 on Friday.
Led by Hiner’s 28 points, the Bears rallied from an early deficit. Wasilla led 16-8 after the first quarter and 27-20 at halftime.
Kodiak outscored Wasilla 27-17 in the fourth quarter Saturday.
Dane Kuiper led the Warriors with 18 points in the loss. Stone Krueger added 16 and Cash McGregor chipped in a dozen.
Wasilla also led Kodiak early on Friday, posting a 16-7 first-quarter advantage and a 30-17 halftime lead. Kodiak forced overtime with a 21-11 fourth-quarter run.
Cameron Brown scored a game-high 21 in the loss. Kuiper added 16.
Kodiak improved to 5-5 in NLC play. Wasilla dropped to 3-6 in conference.
