Three games against Valley rivals, and three straight shutouts for Wasilla goalie Phillip Brevogel.
The latest was a 16-save effort during a 3-0 nonconference win over the Palmer Moose Friday at the MTA Events Center in Palmer. It came a night after the sophomore netminder stopped all 24 shots he faced during a 1-0 victory over Colony at the Brett Arena. Last week, Brevogel made 20 saves in 7-0 win over the Moose during the Big Lake Lions Classic tourney hosted by Houston at the Big Lake Recreation Center.
Brevogel now has 60 saves in his last three starts. Through his first 10 games of the season, Brevogel sports a 1.50 goals against average and .919 saves percentage. He has four shutouts and has not allowed more than four goals in a start this season.
Sayer Sanders, Zach Roush and Langston Bouma score goals during the victory over the Moose on Friday. Wasilla led 1-0 through two periods. Wasilla’s third goal came with 23 seconds left in the game. Wasilla outshot the Moose 35-16. TJ O’Rourke made 32 saves in the Palmer net.
Brevogel helped Wasilla score a key Railbelt Conference win with his 24 saves against the Knights on Thursday. Wasilla’s Mason Mulneaux supplied the game’s lone goal, a shorthanded tally with 2:33 left in regulation. Colony outshot the Warriors 27-24 in the loss. Roman Shepard made 26 saves for the Knights.
