WASILLA — After Courtney Anthony signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Edmonds Community College and play volleyball for the Tritons, anything was thrilled to extend her career in a defensive role on the volleyball court.

It didn’t take long for 2016 graduate of Wasilla High School to establish herself in that role with the Tritons.

Anthony has been named the NWAC Defensive Player of the Week, for the third week of the Northwest Athletic Conference college volleyball season.

“Courtney has really taken tot the libero position. Her serving and passing numbers increased each week. She has also been a consistent defender and continues to lead the team in digs,” Edmonds head coach Tony Miranda said in a press release issued by the NWAC.

Anthony currently leads the Tritons with 101 digs, and averages 6.3 digs per game.
