WASILLA - Kenai tossed a pair of shut outs at the Wasilla Road Warriors Wednesday as both teams tuned up for this weekends District II American Legion baseball tournament in Fairbanks.
Kenai beat Wasilla 12-0 and 4-0. The Road Warriors managed two hits in the first game and three in the second.
Kenai iis 24-20 on the season. Wasilla is 13-10.
Both teams head to the Fairbanbks district with the hope of not being the first to lose two games. Wasilla coach Pete Powell said the five teams will be playing for four spots in the state tourney. The first team that loses two games is out. The next team that loses two games is the fourth seed, and so on.
We were feeling pretty good until the last two days, Powell said, referring to the losses to Kenai and to East, of Anchorage.
He rated Service, East and Kenai as the top three games in the state.
