WASILLA — Wrestlers from six different schools will hit the mat at Wasilla High School Friday and Saturday for the annual Northern Lights Conference Championships wrestling tournament.
Athletes from Colony, Palmer, Wasilla, Kenai, Kodiak and Soldotna will battle for individual crowns and the team title. Berths for the upcoming 4A state tournament are also on the line. The top five grapplers in each weight class earn an automatic bid for the state tournament.
Wrestling begins Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Wasilla High. The championship quarterfinals are scheduled for 2 p.m. and the championship semifinals are slated for 7:30 p.m. Wrestling continues Saturday with consolation action starting at 10 a.m. The consolation finals, which include the third-place and fifth-place matches, starts at 1 p.m. The championship round is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The Houston and Redington wrestling programs will compete in the Kachemak Conference Championships Friday and Saturday in Homer.
