Wasilla High School is in search of a head coach to lead its swimming program through the 2025 season.
Candidates must have a demonstrated record of communicating well with teenage athletes, parents, coaches, and administrators; the ability to provide an atmosphere which promotes the development of useful loyal citizens, pursuit of excellence, and the respect for dignity of others; a willingness to make a personal sacrifice for the benefit of the team and to set a positive example through living a high code of conduct; and understanding of fundamentals, rules, and regulations for the sport.
There also must be a knowledge of safety procedures, and have the ability to plan and execute meaningful and effective practices.
Understanding of the MSBSD and ASAA guidelines and commitment to follow them is required, and applicants must be able to meet the Wasilla High School schedule of events and practices.
Previous head coaching experience at the high school level or higher is preferred.
Once hired, the NFHS fundamentals of coaching course, the Alaska/ASAA State coaching component course, First Aid, Health and Safety course , concussion in sports course, and the cardiac arrest course, as well as all district paperwork will need to be updated and completed.
