As high school graduations loom on the horizon, seniors all across the Matanuska-Susitna Borough are making plans for the future, and for some that means signing letter of intent. While most think of those as belonging to athletes, on April 18, 2024 Wasilla High School (WHS) celebrated a different kind of letter of intent signing as the school held its first ever NC3 National Signing Event.
The event featured eight prospective career and technical education (CTE) students signing their letters of intent to attend technical programs and future employment. Family and friends were invited to attend to share and celebrate in the students’ achievements, which underscores the importance of skilled trade workers, as well as the value of CTE instruction not only at WHS but in high schools across the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District (MSBSD)
“Our CTE program is top notch. It’s amazing,” said MSBSD Superintendent Dr. Randy Trani in a recent interview, who boasted that 98% of CTE students graduate.
The signing event not only celebrated the hard work of the students, but reinforced the school district’s commitment to building strong student programs and competent workforce development.
