WASILLA — Residents, businesses and volunteers are buzzing around the Wasilla Multi-Use Sports Complex this weekend to buy, sell and advertise products and services offered at the 2007 Mat-Su Fall Home Show.
“We want to give people a chance to so see products and services that will help them finish their projects,” said Michael Fisher, co-owner of D.A.M.M. Straight Productions, which is producing its first Mat-Su Valley home show.
Barry and Marlene Munsell wandered through the aisles of vendors at the show Saturday to examine products offered by local and national companies.
“We’re building a house, so we came to show to look at stuff,” said Barry Munsell, a Wasilla resident. “We’ve been trying to get ready to go, but we’re just getting started with the dirt work.”
With more than 100 vendors participating in the three-day event, the Munsells will have plenty of opportunities to examine hundreds of products. In fact, the variety of products and services typically available at home shows drew the couple to this event. Although the couple hasn’t attending the spring show in Wasilla, they have attended similar shows in Anchorage.
“Sometimes you see a business that you didn’t know about,” Barry Munsell said.
If they had to choose a favorite booth, the couple said Builders Bargains was one of the best.
“We’re really interested in what they have displayed,” Marlene Munsell said.
David See, a Big Lake resident, traveled to the home show for some of the same reasons.
“Just to see the different vendors and some of the new stuff on the market,” See said. “In the past we had to go to the Sullivan [Arena].”
Although See has been to other events like the spring home show, he believes it’s helpful to also have a fall show in the Valley because it focuses on products and services he could use for projects over the winter.
While many scoured the home show in search for products and services, others went just for fun.
“It gives you something to do in the Valley,” Marlene Munsell said.
The home show continues today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $3. For more information call D.A.M.M. Straight Productions at 344-1007.
