Wasilla hotel evacuated early Tuesday morning after report of fire

WASILLA — Guests at the Best Western Lake Lucille Inn in Wasilla received a rude awakening early Tuesday morning.

The hotel was evacuated for about three hours after a fire was reported in one of the rooms. The initial call came in about 2 a.m., and the Central Mat-Su Fire Department responded.

The fire was contained to a single room, Mat-Su Borough Emergency Services Director Ken Barkley said by email. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Responders remained on scene for about four hours.
