The Wasilla Meta-Rose Public Library has reopened after a water leak resulted in an unplanned closure from June 13-22.
Library director KJ Martin-Albright first said the library would reopen Monday, then that date moved back to Tuesday, and on Wednesday the announcement was made that the facility would be closed until Friday.
“It’s been kind of a moving target,” she said.
According to the city, the leak overnight on June 13 caused significant grey-water flooding damage to both floors of the library.
To protect the library’s collection, as well as the public’s health and safety, a restoration company was called in to clean and sanitize the affected areas.
The reopening of the library was pushed back after the drying process took longer than anticipated.
