Wasilla man arrested for child molestation

PALMER — Alaska State Troopers say they arrested a 54-year-old Wasilla man for allegedly molesting a child for two years.

According to an AST press statement, James Hottenstein, 54, was accused of inappropriately touching a young girl in May 2011.

“The abuse took place in Wasilla starting in October 2009 and going through May 2011,” according to the statement.

On Wednesday, a Palmer grand jury voted to charge Hottenstein with four counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

He was arrested Friday.

He was jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $10,000 bail and the condition he find someone to watch him before he can be released.

Jail records Saturday afternoon showed he was still incarcerated.
