WASILLA — Wasilla police said a 30-year-old Wasilla man was in possession of 20 grams of heroin, seven grams of meth, six grams of cocaine and $15,000 in cash when he was pulled over for a traffic violation Dec. 23 in Wasilla.
In a statement issued on the Wasilla Police Department Facebook page, WPD said Nickolas Russell was charged with one count of second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, two counts of third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, three counts of fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and one count each of third-degree misconduct involving weapons and second-degree theft.
WPD said Russell was pulled over for an equipment violation at around 12:27 a.m. on Dec. 23 while driving on the Parks Highway near the Palmer-Wasilla Highway. At that time he was arrested for an outstanding warrant as well as driving while license suspended and WPD opened a drugs investigation. Court records show Russell was bailed out of jail later that day, but was re-arrested Monday night on the drugs and weapons charges.

On 12/23/2015 at approximately 0027 hours, Wasilla Police stopped Nickolas Russell on the Parks Highway near the Palmer-Wasilla Highway for an equipment violation. Russell was driving with a suspended license, had a warrant for his arrest, and had evidence of illegal drugs on his person and inside the vehicle. Russell was arrested and a drug investigation was opened. While serving a search warrant on Russell's vehicle, Wasilla Police found approximately 20 grams of heroin, 7 grams of methamphetamine, 6 grams of cocaine and over $15,000 cash. Additionally, there was evidence of drug sales, as well as stolen property, including checkbooks. On 12/28/2015 at approximately 2352 hours, Wasilla Police located and arrested Russell. Charges of MICS 2, MICS 3 (x2) MICS 4 (x3) MIW 3 and Theft 2 were forwarded to the District Attorney's Office. The weapons charge was part of an ongoing investigation involving Russell. He was held without bail.
