A 41-year old Wasilla man was jailed after leading police on a chase up the Parks Highway Saturday morning.
According to an Alaska State Troopers report, Edmond Monroe failed to yield after police attempted to stop his 2009 Nissan Rogue near Mile 34 of the Glenn Highway for a moving violation. According to reports, Monroe continued northbound onto the Parks Highway into Wasilla.
With assistance from Wasilla Police Department officers who deployed a spike strip near Seward Meridian Parkway, the vehicle’s two front tires were deflated. However, troopers said Monroe continued north eventually stopping at the Parks-Palmer Wasilla Highway intersection. Police say Monroe was then taken into custody without incident.
Monroe was arrested for first-degree failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer, reckless driving and DUI. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility with bail set at $2,750.
