WASILLA -- Wasilla police culminated a week-long search by arresting a 20-year-old Wasilla man Saturday after he violated terms of probation by cutting off his ankle monitoring bracelet.
Scott W. Gardner was apprehended after a routine traffic stop. Investigation showed he was wanted after threatening violence to family members, friends and law enforcement officials, Wasilla police said in a press release.
He was arrested after a foot chase and is charged with resisting arrest, felony assault and a $5,000 warrant for failure to comply with terms of probation. The latter charge is related to original charges of felony assault, misconduct involving weapons in the third degree, and second-degree theft, police said.
"Gardner is alleged to be involved in vehicle theft, robbery and numerous assaults involving threats with weapons and threats of suicide," according to the press release.
Gardner was lodged at Mat-Su Pre-Trial after being treated at Valley Hospital for injuries sustained while running to avoid arrest. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus $5,000 for the warrant. A court-approved, third-party custodian also is required.
Alaska State Troopers and Palmer Police Department assisted Wasilla police with the case.
