WASILLA — Authorities allege a Wasilla man broke into a Fairview Loop house about 1 a.m. Monday, struck a woman in the head with a handgun, tried to rape her and then fled the scene.

According to troopers, King broke in to a woman’s home and struck her in the head with a handgun before attempting to rape her. He allegedly restrained the victim from leaving the residence, but she escaped and ran away, according to troopers. After the victim fled, King stole her car and drove off. Troopers and Wasilla police arrested him there without incident.

Troopers arrested King numerous charges, including first-degree burglary, kidnapping, second-degree assault, first-degree attempted sexual assault. All the alleged crimes were committed as an act of domestic violence, meaning he could face stiffer sentences than the minimum if convicted. King also faces charges of first-degree vehicle theft, third-degree theft, first-degree failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer and reckless driving for his flight from the law.

King’s case did not yet appear in online court records Monday morning. He remained in Mat-Su Pretrial Monday morning, according to corrections documents. Court records show this is King’s first felony charge of any kind.
