TRAPPER CREEK — A Wasilla man was flown by LifeMed helicopter to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage after his motorcycle struck a moose calf Monday night.
The collision at Mile Post 122, Parks Highway was reported to Alaska State Troopers around 11:49 p.m., July 23.
Troopers say Charles G. Moses, 45, of Wasilla was driving a maroon 2011 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on the Parks Highway when a moose calf stepped in front of the motorcycle.
Moses told troopers he was driving slightly slower than the 65 mph speed limit when the calf stepped onto the road, causing him to lose control.
Moses, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle onto the shoulder of the road, troopers said.
Emergency service crews and the LifeMed helicopter responded to the scene to provide aid.
The motorcycle sustained several thousand dollars damage, troopers said.
