A Wasilla man who has been indicted on 10 counts of possession of child pornography is now in custody.

Michael Cassista was indicted by a Palmer Grand Jury on Sept. 26. The charges came after an investigation by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation. ABI was working cooperatively with the Office of Special Prosecutions’ Statewide Internet Crimes Against Children and the Palmer District Attorney’s Office.

Cassista is a long-time Valley resident, according to the attorney general’s office, and worked as a nurse for the State of Alaska’s Department of Health and Social Services. Cassista could be facing a sentence of two to 99 years on each indicted count.

Cassista was initially reported at-large after the indictment was released. He was arraigned in Anchorage Superior Court on Monday. A bail hearing is scheduled for Thursday at 2:15 p.m. at the Nesbett Courthouse in Anchorage.
