PALMER -- A 32-year-old Wasilla man was indicted Wednesday on four counts of alleged assault.
Parris D. Skoutas was indicted for coercion, third-degree assault and two third-degree counts of misconduct involving a weapon. He pleaded not guilty Friday in Palmer Superior Court.
According to charging documents, Alaska State Troopers were called to a Wasilla home where a 33-year-old woman said she had been kicked out by a man who threatened to shoot himself.
Skoutas allegedly threw the woman to the ground, grabbed her hair and dragged her across the floor. The woman told troopers he waived around a .38-caliber handgun.
After numerous morning telephone conversations with Skoutas, who refused to leave his house to speak with troopers, he came out at about 1:30 p.m. and was arrested.
Initially he was charged with domestic violence but those charges were dropped.
Troopers found a .22-caliber semiautomatic pistol and a .38-caliber five-shot revolver in the home. Skoutas has a prior felony conviction, according to charging documents.
