PALMER — A man listed on the Florida sex offender registry has been indicted for new sex offenses in Palmer, court documents show.
David B. Kazarian, 55, of Wasilla, was indicted on six accounts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and four counts of incest, and faced arraignment at 11 a.m. Monday.
Kazarian was arrested on Oct. 29 after troopers received a report from an adult female that she had been molested over a period of 13 years.
Kazarian appears on the Florida sex offender registry, with a listed address of Big Lake, Alaska. He was convicted in 1986 in Duval County, Florida, of one count of sexual battery against a person older than 12, and another count of lewd or lascivious acts in the presence of a child. According to Florida statute, that category includes child sexual battery, simulated sex acts, and inappropriate touching on anyone under the age of 16.
Duval County contains the city of Jacksonville and surrounding suburbs in Northern Florida.
Troopers say the majority of the alleged abuse took place over the past 13 years and a “large amount” of the abuse happened in Louisiana, according to trooper spokeswoman Beth Ipsen.
Troopers with the Alaska Bureau of Investigation, Mat-Su Child Abuse Investigation Unit, Anchorage Technical Crimes Unit, Mat-Su Major Crimes Unit, and patrol troopers, as well as the Office of Child Services, responded to a Wasilla residence.
“Investigators have yet to identify other victims, but it’s still an open investigation,” Ipsen wrote.
The Alaska indictment concerns allegations of crimes committed between March 21, 2009 and Feb. 8, 2013, against a victim who is now an adult.
Sexual Abuse of a Minor is an unclassified felony, punishable by up to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000. Incest is a Class C felony, punishable by up to five years and a fine of up to $50,000.
He remained in Mat-Su Pretrial Monday morning on $250,000 bail.
