Wasilla man jailed for attempted rape, burglary

WASILLA — A 30-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after a car ride home allegedly took a dark turn, resulting in an attempted rape and subsequent burglary charges.

According to an affidavit from Alaska State Trooper Dug Cook, the case began on the night of July 11 after Jerry Brown, 30, of Wasilla, received a ride from a woman identified only by her initials in AST reports.

During the encounter, Brown allegedly exposed himself to the woman and reached across the seat to grope her. Cook wrote that at one point, Brown took a hold of her arm and told her he would not let her leave the car.

When Brown and the woman finally left the vehicle, Brown allegedly kicked over a mailbox, breaking the post and the mailbox itself. Later that night, he also was found in the woman’s bedroom. The door had been broken off its hinges.

Multiple people told troopers that Brown was challenging everyone at the residence to fight. The estimated cost of the damage Brown allegedly caused was $300. Brown was jailed without bail for attempted sexual assault, assault, criminal mischief, indecent exposure and disorderly conduct. Jail records Monday afternoon listed Brown as an inmate at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility.
