WASILLA — A Mat-Su family is seeking any possible leads on finding their missing step-father.

Jennie Thompson said her stepfather, 70-year old Tony Adevai, of Wasilla, was supposed to be home Wednesday from a trip to Oregon for his brother’s funeral.

“He called and spoke to us on Sunday saying he would be home Thursday,” Thompson said. “We received a call from the (Royal Canadian Mounted Police Wednesday) saying they found his truck abandoned on the highway.”

Thompson said that even more disconcerting is the fact that a male a placed 911 call about 30 miles from Iskut, British Columbia on Monday. Iskut is about 120 miles northeast of Ketchikan.

She said the call revealed an altercation broke out between the caller and another person before the call was disconnected. Thompson said two days later, Adevai’s truck was found abandoned with his passport and cell phone.

Another daughter, Trace Cooper of Oregon said her father was last seen Monday when he flagged down a snowplow driver on Highway 37 just north of Iskut. Cooper said the plow driver reported Adevai appeared frightened and disoriented and thought there may have been someone else in the pickup. Te driver contacted police who discovered the abandoned truck.

Contacted Monday night, Thompson said she was departing to the area. She said Adevai suffers from dementia, cardiac problems, is an insulin-dependent diabetic and has other health-related issues. Anyone with information on Adevai’s whereabouts is asked to contact Cooper at 541-829-3723 or the Dease Lake RCMP at (250) 771-4111.
