WILLOW — A Wasilla man is in critical condition following an early morning shooting near Willow.
According to the Alaska State Troopers, Trent Wohlers, 25, was shot following what was described as a “road rage” incident in an online dispatch published Tuesday morning. Wohlers followed a vehicle headed northbound on the Parks Highway when the vehicle stopped at the Sunshine Community Health Center. The female driver met her boyfriend and there was a physical altercation, according to troopers, and Wohlers was shot.
After troopers responded, Wohlers was medevaced to Providence Hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries, according to AST. The incident did not occur inside the clinic, but outside the facility, according to the report.
No further details about the shooting were available Tuesday afternoon. Investigation is ongoing as to who took the shot.
AST received the report of the shooting at 12:17 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
