WASILLA — The Wasilla Museum and Visitor Center is hosting its annual block party event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20.
This is a free community event that's open to the public. There will be a variety of vendor booths, food trucks, and activities for the whole family. Other notable guests include "Tundra" cartoonist Chad Carpenter and members of the Mat-Su Central Fire Department.
"Who doesn't love a big, red fire truck?" Wasilla Museum and Visitor Center curator Bethany Buckingham said.
According to Buckingham, this is one of the museum’s biggest events of the year. She said it serves as a great way to have fun while highlighting the good work being done locally.
"It's just going to be a free, fun day to kick off summer," Buckingham said. "I think it really shows who we are as a community."
Last year's event was the first one back since the onset of the pandemic. Buckingham said they had a great turnout then and they're expecting a similar result this year thanks to the continued support of various volunteers and other members of the wider community. She said they hope to get bigger and better each year.
"We're just trying to keep building it," Buckingham said. "We want to make sure everyone has access to their community organizations."
