U.S. Navy sailors serve and protect from around the globe, and every sailor got their start somewhere, including U.S. Navy Command Master Chief (MCPO) Casey Wheeler, from Wasilla.

MCPO Wheeler is currently serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68). The carrier is part of the U.S. 7th Fleet, which is the Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, meaning that the ship may be deployed with scheduled time away from the normal duty station, usually outside of the United States. It may mean seven months on a Navy ship, sometimes longer.

The 7th Fleet is currently conducting routine operations and routinely interacts with and operates with allies and partners to preserve a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
