WASILLA — The Wasilla girls’ and boys’ each improved to 5-0 in Northern Lights Conference play with wins over Kenai and Soldotna during a road trip.
Friday, McKenna Dinkel scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Wasilla girls to a 62-36 win over Kenai. Wasilla, which jumped to an early 16-5 lead, also got 16 points from Olivia Davies. Catherine Baham added 11, and hit two of Wasilla’s seven three-pointers.
Later in the evening, the Wasilla boys survived a rough first quarter, and earned a 59-42 victory over the Kardinals. The Warriors had trailed 22-12 after the first quarter. Kobe Brown led Wasilla with 16. Daniel Headdings added 15.
The night before, the Wasilla boys drilled Soldotna 48-17. Isaac Houck led Wasilla with a dozen. The Warriors didn’t allow more than six points in any single quarter, and Soldotna managed only five total points in the second half.
The Wasilla girls ran past Soldotna 75-34. Davies scored 22 for the Warriors. Dinkel added 16.
The Warriors return home to host Colony Tuesday at Wasilla High. The varsity girls meet at 6 p.m. and the boys follow at 7:30 p.m.
