Wasilla, Palmer post legion baseball wins

WASILLA — The Wasilla Road Warriors earned a weekend sweep of Ketchikan on the road.

Wasilla secured the sweep with a 9-8 come-from-behind win Sunday in Ketchikan.

Jeffrey Forster drove in the game-tying run and posted the go-ahead score for the Road Warriors. Trailing by a run, Forster smacked a double to score Hank Boyer. Forster later scored on a Nolan Monaghan single.

Forster, Kyle Graham and Sammy Reed led the Warriors with two hits each in the victory. Reed drove in three runs, and Monaghan added two RBI.

The Road Warriors opened the series with a 17-2 drubbing of Ketchikan on Saturday.

Forster and Boyer had four RBI each in the victory. Koby Burns added three RBI, and Matt Palmer drove in two. Monaghan led the team with three runs scored. Four different players scored twice for the Warriors.

Wasilla improved to 3-0 with the victories.

The Road Warriors return home to face Eagle River Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at McManus Field in Wasilla.

Pioneers pound Bears

PALMER — The Palmer Pioneers pounded the Bartlett Golden Bears, earning a 14-4 victory in five innings Saturday in Palmer.

Eight different Pioneers scored in the game. Zach Satterly led palmer with three runs scored. Cole Doss, Joe Ryan, Cooper McLaughlin and Cody Grogan added two runs each.

Palmer jumped to a quick 6-0 lead in the first.

McLaughlin, Satterly and Austin Reeder notched first-inning singles during the six-run inning. Satterly finished with a single and a double in the victory.

Service beat Palmer 15-2 on Sunday. Reeder drove in both runs for the Pioneers, now 1-3.

Palmer returns to the field to face South Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Anchorage.
