Wasilla pilot among five killed in Russian Mission plane crash

WASILLA — A 48-year old Wasilla pilot was one of five people reported killed in an Aug. 31, two-plane collision near Russian Mission, approximately 70 miles north of Bethel.

Alaska State Troopers (AST) reported Thursday Harry Wrase, and two passengers in a RAVN C208 Caravan, 32-year old Steven Paul Andrew of Kenai and Aaron Jay Minock of Russian Mission, were in one plane that left Russian Mission en route to Marshal. 44-year old pilot Justin Babat of Montana and one passenger, 40-year old Jeffrey Thomas Burruss of Haines, were in a Renfro’s Alaska Adventure Super Cub.

Troopers report there were no survivors from either aircraft. Both AST and federal National Transportation Safety Board officials remain on-scene investigating the crash site. Troopers reported on Tuesday body recovery efforts were underway.
