PALMER — Later this month, Rynae Baca will play in the U.S. Amatuer Public Links Championship for the fourth straight year.
On Friday, the 15-year-old Wasilla player shot a 77 to finish first in a Public Links qualifier hosted by Palmer Golf Course.
Baca and runner-up Brittany Bomar both advance to the Public Links Championships, slated for June 21-26 at Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame in Indiana. Bomar, who shot an 80, won the qualifier last year. Baca’s younger sister, Madison, is one of two alternates. Madison Baca, 13, finished at 82. Ka’ili Britos, of Oahu, Hawaii, finished as the first alternate with an 81.
Palmer’s Rosanna Pelletier finished just outside of the top-five with an 87.
