WASILLA — Police have announced increased patrol units on the highways in search of impaired drivers during its annual holiday campaign to reduce drunken driving crashes, injuries and deaths.
While patrols will be focused on DUI enforcement, a press release from the Wasilla Police Department says police also will be watching for speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving and people not wearing their seat belts.
Thanks to funding from the Alaska Highway Safety Office, the “Drive Sober, or Get Pulled Over,” campaign began Dec. 1 and continues through New Year’s Day.
The press release says other state law enforcement agencies will boost patrols, too.
People are encouraged to use designated drivers and to report every dangerous driver immediately (REDDI) by calling 911.
