WASILLA — The Wasilla Main Post Office is offering expanded hours to help customers put out by the closure of the Settlers Bay contract post office.

According to a notice sent to customers on Wednesday, the Wasilla office will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The Settlers Bay office was abruptly closed on Sept. 18 due to an investigation by the Postal Service's Office of the Inspector General, which is looking into allegations of slow mail delivery at the site. The OIG has not said how long it expects the investigation to last and when — or for that matter, if — the Settlers Bay office will reopen.
