ANCHORAGE — The host Dimond Lynx slipped past the Wasilla Warriors 55-51 on Saturday to win the title of the Lady Lynx Tournament at Dimond High School.
Wasilla senior Jenna Johnson pushed the Warriors into the tournament final with a buzzer-beating jump shot on Friday. The all-state guard hit the jumper just before the final horn sounded to give the Warriors the 54-53 win over Ketchikan.
Johnson scored a game-high 26 in the win, and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomores Celeste Colegrove and Kelsey Cottle combined for 21 points in the victory.
Ketchikan led 31-29 at halftime and owned a five-point advantage heading into the final eight minute of play.
Lacie Effenberger scored 17 for the Kings.
Johnson scored 25 points on Thursday to lead Wasilla to a 68-39 win over Point Hope in the tournament’s opening round.
Cottle added 15 points in the victory over the 2A program.
