Wasilla Vet Center to host dedication ceremony and open house

In honor of the Wasilla Vet Center’s new facility, the public is invited to attend the official dedication and open house.

The Wasilla Vet Center, previously located on E. Westpoint Drive, relocated to a new facility in Wasilla that will increases access to services for eligible Veterans, service members, including members of the National Guard and reserve components, and their families, in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.

The Wasilla Vet Center offers confidential help for Veterans, service members, and their families at no cost in a non-medical setting. Services include counseling for needs such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and the psychological effects of military sexual trauma. The Vet Center can also connect individuals with more support in VA and the community.

The new location provides 6,000 square feet of space, expanding the capability for group activities and group counseling, as well as shared space for community partners, a more accessible location closer to Palmer, and the ability to conduct recreational and whole health events such as gaming groups, art groups, and yoga.

“We are excited about expanded services for our current clients in this new space, and inviting others to find safety, comfort and healing here,” said Dr. Cheryl Lundy, Wasilla Vet Center Director.

To commemorate the new location, a there will be a ceremony officially to dedicate the new location, on June 28, 2023, from 12-3pm.

Following the dedication, there will be an Open House commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War during Operation Welcome Home. Speakers for the Open House include leadership from the VA’s Readjustment Counseling Service and legislative representatives.

The new location for the Wasilla Vet Center is 1751 E. Gardner Way, Suite B.
