WASILLA -- A Wasilla woman was arrested Saturday and charged with third-degree assault, after reportedly telling her 35-year-old son that she would slit his throat as soon as he fell asleep, according to Wasilla police.
The alleged incident occurred at the Heritage Drive apartment the mother and son shared, police said.
According to court documents filed by Wasilla Police Officer David Eller, Amelia Delkittie, 59, admitted that she had been drinking. Delkittie also reportedly told Eller that she knew where she was and knew that killing her son was wrong, but planned to do it anyway.
Eller said the woman may have mental-health problems and the threat on her son's life is only considered an assault of threat.
Eller said Delkittie told him she was going to use a large kitchen knife to kill her son, who was genuinely afraid for his life and afraid to go to sleep because he didn't want his mother to kill him.
Delkittie was taken to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility, with bail set at $7,500.
