Payton Peterson, 20, of Wasilla, was pronounced dead at the scene after a two-vehicle accident near Mile 10 of KGB, according to an Alaska State Troopers dispatch published Tuesday. Troopers responded to the accident at 8:03 a.m. Tuesday.
“(Peterson) was outbound on (Knik-Goose Bay Road) at a high rate of speed when the vehicle lost control, skidded into oncoming traffic and was struck by an oncoming 2006 Chevy pickup,” troopers stated in the dispatch.
Peterson was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the truck was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries, troopers said.
