Wasilla woman drowns after boat flips in Talkeetna River

A Wasilla woman is dead after a boat flipped over in the Talkeetna River Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Kelly Jo Latimer, 48, according to the Alaska State Troopers.

AST received a report of the overturned boat just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Life-saving measures were performed on the victim at the scene. Life Med and Talkeetna First Responders arrived at the scene and life-saving efforts were continued until exhausted,

Latimer was one of four people on the boat, and the remaining three were transported by Mahay’s Jet Boat Adventures to Talkeetna.

Helo 3 and Alaska Wildlife Troopers also assisted.
