ANCHORAGE — Brady Dale of Mat-Su Toastmasters (Wasilla) and Ryan Roley of Untwisted Tongues Toastmasters (Anchorage) won the international speech contests for Divisions E and F, respectively. The contests were held Saturday, March 24 at ChangePoint Church in Anchorage.
The two divisions represent more than 30 Toastmasters clubs from throughout Alaska.
Dale and Roley were among eight contestants who delivered 5-7-minute speeches of original material on topics of their choosing. Contestants were judged on speech content, organization, and delivery.
Each contestant previously won at the club and area levels to advance to the division contests. The division wins qualify Dale and Roley to compete at the district level during the District 32 Toastmasters annual conference on April 14 in Bremerton, Washington at the Kitsap Conference Center.
Martin Miller of Sweet’s Pride Toastmasters (Fairbanks) and Jeremiah Prater of Untwisted Tongues Toastmasters (Anchorage) took top honors for Divisions E and F, respectively, in a separate competition for speech evaluation.
Seven contestants participated in the speech evaluation contests. Each contestant listened to a test speaker and provided a 2-3-minute evaluation. Immediate, constructive evaluation is a hallmark of the Toastmasters program. Evaluations provide speakers with observations and suggestions for their consideration in refining future speeches and speech performances.
Miller and Prater are also eligible to compete during the evaluation contest at the district conference.
