The Wasilla Waves Swim Club took home the most points per swimmer trophy during the 2003 Long Course Championships in July.

The Waves were led by Jeff Frey, who swam a perfect meet, collecting seven first-place finished out of seven races.

He set a state record for the 10 and under boys' 400-meter freestyle, improving his own record by 10 seconds. He finished with 140 points.

Elise Long placed in the top three in all seven events, with a first-place finish in the 200 individual medley. She placed fourth overall.

Nancy Long won the 1,500 freestyle and finished second in three other events to take third overall.

Christian Long took second in both the 1,500 and 800 free to take fifth.

Other highlights included Charley Frey taking third in the 100 fly and Tommy Hightower taking second in the 200 backstroke.

Wasilla Waves Swim Club swimmers were Azzy Brown, 25 points; Charles Frey, 73 points; Jeff Frey, 140 points; Ben Harris; Tommy Hightower, 56 points; Christian Long, 109 points; Elise Long, 119 points; Maddie Merriam; Max Merriam, 70 points; Nancy Long, 114 points; Melissa Windel, 4 points.

As a team, the Waves averaged 68.5 points per swimmer to claim the trophy.
