Swap meet planned
H&C Feed, located on Industrial Way next to Builder's Bargains in Palmer, will be holding a swap meet tomorrow between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to benefit victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack.
Twenty percent of the total proceeds of the day's sales will go toward the American Red Cross and there will be a donation barrel in the store as well.
Important phone numbers
Donated supplies, food and clothing have poured into New York City and Washington, D.C., following last Tuesday's terrorist attacks, and while the offers are appreciated by relief workers, they are running out of room and can no longer process or store additional donated items.
Instead, relief workers are encouraging the public to donate money for recovery efforts.
"The most efficient and effective means for citizens or businesses to support relief efforts is through monetary donations to voluntary organizations," FEMA director Joe Allbaugh wrote to Gov. Tony Knowles.
