We all want what is best for the people in the Mat-Su

To the editor:

Thank you for your support in the recent election. The win was not a landslide, and I am aware that some of you had hoped for a different outcome. As a newcomer to the Mat-Su Borough Assembly, I recognize that I have much to learn and will likely make some mistakes along the way.

I thank those individuals who have reached out to help me get my feet on the ground. It will be a privilege to serve alongside the other members of the assembly, borough management, borough employees and my fellow residents as together we strive to keep the Mat-Su the best place in Alaska to work, to play and to live.

I am humbled thinking of all those who have served before me and I hope that I am able to honor their legacy. As a gesture of this, the first piece of legislation that I am sponsoring is one that was begun by assembly member Noel Woods that he wasn’t able to see through to its completion. I know there will be many times we won’t all agree, but may we live in peace, knowing that we all want what is best for the people in the Mat-Su. May our work and time together produce positive results for many years to come and the future generations that will visit, work and live in this beautiful place.
