I am thrilled to be blogging about my personal weight loss journey, but I have to admit that I have never blogged before. So please be patient with me while I figure out this blogging thing…
I think I will begin by telling a little bit about myself: I am 33 years old, have 2 kids and want to lose 40 lbs. I decided to get healthy before we started Trim-to-Win, but I didn't really have a firm plan until I agreed to this program. At the beginning of the year I made a resolution to stop eating fast food, watch my portion sizes and eat healthier. So far it's going great! The first few days were pretty tough… I REALLY wanted a Big Mac… but eventually that craving subsided and now I don't miss them (much).
About a week ago, Lynn and I started with the Trim-to-Win contest. So far, we have really enjoyed meeting the people that will be supporting our efforts. Our first stop was at the AT&T Sports Center where Dana gave us a tour of the facility and a TON of information. They offer classes for all ages and abilities in addition to the usual gym amenities - cardio equipment, track, basketball courts and weight room. They feature some amazing weight loss shakes in their snack bar. (Our first shake was "Snickers" flavored - it was REALLY yummy. Designed to be meal replacements, these shakes were not only tasty but I didn't feel hungry for several hours after drinking one.)
We then went to the Mat-Su Regional Urgent Care Center for some lab work and physicals. In the lab, Nicolette drew our blood for a lipid, bmp and cbc panel. I am not a fan of getting my blood drawn - or pain in general - but she made the process comfortable and fairly painless. I got the results during the physical exam with Dr. Wahl. There was nothing about my test results that would prohibit exercising, so it was time to begin! Off to the gym to meet with a personal trainer!!
I have been told that it takes about 21 days to create a new habit. So far I have been to the gym three times to exercise, took yesterday off because I could hardly walk… So… do I count yesterday as part of the 21 days… or do I only count the days that I ACTUALLY go to work out?
In my next blog I will tell all about my experience with the personal trainer and my NEW favorite evening past time… Turbo Kick Class with Laurie at the AT&T Sports Center! :)
