What about Ann? Here’s what happened

To the editor:

Ann was one of many homeless in our Valley, through no fault of her own. And with nowhere in the Valley to house the helpless, she took to sleeping in her van. Thankfully she had had van for so many have no shelter at all. Not even a place to get in from the elements of Alaska’s fall into winter.

Since the “What about Ann” letter ran, $55,000 has come in to Valley charities for homeless vouchers. This information came from a number of sources: Blood and Fire of I spoke with Carrie who confirmed the allotment; 211 can be contacted by phone; and can also direct the needy to local assistance. Other organizations have also been blessed. Please never cease to give, as monies go quickly and the need is so great and grave in winter’s depths.

And as for Ann, well I am happy to say I woke to a call from an elderly lady who gently asked “Where is Ann?” Her voice sounded sweet and concerned. I could hear the urgency in her voice: she felt the need to reach out right then and there and help Ann any way she could. Now Ann helps her periodically with her needs. And Betty M. is blessing Ann. God bless you Betty, oh, winged prayer answered.

Then came the call from another elderly lady who has housed Ann in her three-bedroom home in exchange for travels to doctors, shopping etc. Even utilities are included! Ann is warm, healthy and Oh, yes, loved. God bless you, lady of shelter who has tucked one of heaven’s own under your wings. Upon your request to not be mentioned, the angels took flight with your heavenly offer to share the news that God is in our land. And you my ladies have blessed his heart, above all else.

May God bless all the homeless worldwide and may God continue to bless this Valley of graciousness. For there is none like it when it come to pulling together as a community of heart.

Again, please never stop giving until every need be filled.
