What's in this stuff ?

Is anyone else spending more time reading in the grocery store than reading the Frontiersman?

Yesterday I bought just enough stuff to fill the new green “O” bags at Carrs but it took me 1/2 hour to get in and out of the store. Seems along with healthy I’ve picked up a recycling & a“green” habit along with it. I got a jumbo tub of Nancy’s plain non-fat yoghurt, didn’t have to read that, just double check that it wasn’t flavored. Vanilla yoghurt does not make good guacamole no matter what you do to it. Fresh thyme, parsley, and cilantro were next. Browsed the tea section for something spicy, and then I got stuck in the dairy section. The fake sour cream I got the other day was OK , what about fake fat free half & half for the fish chowder. Usually I make it with evaporated milk but it has a sort of unappealing, washed out grey color and I can taste the canned milk. I read the label carefully, without my glasses, but could make out that it had a long list of ingredients and virtually no nutrition.

The chowder was OK and probably would have been better as a sautéed fish medley with no broth. I felt bad about eating it when I put on my glasses and read that the fake half and half serving size was two tablespoons at 20 calories. I didn’t look up how many table spoons were in a bowl of chowder. I don’t want to know, but I need to stick with food I can identify without my glasses.

11 pounds gone so far, 39 to go, and now that my knees seem to be cooperating, my clothes are comfortable, and I feel more energetic, the hard works starts today.
