I guess I just have to ask the question: Why is it that Mat-Su Borough Assemblyman Jim Colver is trying to push through a requirement to increase the need for surveyors?
As I understand it, he’s trying to get it done in 60 days, hardly enough time for a full comment and review period, and it increases the requirement to use his services. Well, not his services specifically, but a surveyor’s services and, well, he is a surveyor.
Seems to me that if this need were so great the Planning Department would be pushing for it, code enforcement would be pushing for it, someone besides Colver would be pushing for it. Instead, my perception is he is pushing for a rule in the same manner our friends in D.C. push — fast and furious with no regard for what the population wants.
So, if you have less than an acre of property you better include survey money in your budget the next time you want to build something that needs a borough permit, at least that’s what Colver wants you to do.
