As a property owner and former resident of Mat-Su, I appreciate your coverage of the now well-known book banning (call it what you will) by the Mat-Su School Board. Apparently it came as a surprise to the public, and by Zoom in the midst of the pandemic. What I would like to know is, just where did this come from? In Dermot Cole's article today, the board president is quoted as saying that while he didn't really object to the Great Gatsby, having actually read it, "it was listed and therefore part of the group." Just what was this list, where did it come from, and was there previous discussion that should have been on the public record?
