On the Fourth of July, my wife and I went into Wasilla. It was a nice, rainy day and we wanted to pick up a few things and watch the parade. As we drove around, we noted a lack of flags flying over the majority of businesses in town. They lost our few bucks that day. We shopped only at the ones that were flying Old Glory; did not spend much that day.
You would think that on Independence Day, the management would spend the 30 or 40 bucks for a flag. Carrs/Safeway? Didn’t see one. Dairy Queen? Nope. Freddies? Maybe, but well hidden.
Main Street Wasilla? Nope. None on the street light poles like many small towns in America that take pride in their country and its history and veterans.
Seems a shame that our town was not lit up with flags, especially on July 4.
