Who killed Wanda Neziri? Grab a map to find out

The police have several suspects in the Wanda Neziri murder, but they won't have all the clues until next Friday, when they get some help from a group of people with maps and compasses.

At least that's the premise behind the night orienteering event at Colony High School on Oct. 22. The murder mystery has clues at every control, and participants must make their way around the course using navigational skills, while collecting clues and figuring out whodunit.

"It's been a lot of fun in the past," said Ed Strabel. "You have to run with headlamps or flashlights, find the clues and attempt to figure out the mystery."

The story is about Wanda Neziri's murder. Her body was found brutally murdered at CHS. Police have determined she wasn't killed there. Police have six suspects, six suspected murder weapons and six possible locations where it took place. As participants make their way to each orienteering control -- which are marked with Glo sticks -- a clue will help them eliminate items from the list.

"They'll get points for each marker they get to, and additional points for figuring things out," Strabel said.

For every control marker, participants receive five points. They get 10 points for correctly identifying the murderer, the weapon or the location, plus 20 bonus points for identifying them all.

The event is timed -- teams will get 90 minutes on the course. After that, five points are deducted for each minute over the time limit, with ties broken by the order of finish.

Those interested in participating should show up at Colony High School, in the rear of the school, at 6:30 p.m. There will be a quick 30-45 minute lesson on orienteering to help beginners, and then the event begins, with a 90-minute limit.
