WHS fares well at Kenai Winter Games

KENAI — The Wasilla High School Native Youth Olympics team enjoyed a strong start to its season during the Kenai Peninsula Winter Games at Kenai Middle School last weekend.

Kasey Gage, Noah Brown, Forest Strick and Jeremiah Johnson each earned first-place finishes during the games. Strick led the Warriors with three wins, finishing first in the toe kick, seal hop and Indian stick pull. Gage won the one foot high kick and Brown was first in the two foot high kick. Johnson earned top honors in the Eskimo stick pull.

Stephanie Egnaty led the Wasilla girls with runner-up finishes in the Indian stick pull, Eskimo stick pull and seal hop.

Chyanne Mosquito, Cynthia Melaka, Timmy Smith, Ray Lamont and Jake Smith also competed for WHS.
