Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

My wife is a 27-year teacher. I generally admire teachers. Many work hard, sacrifice to see that their charges have what they need for class work, and believe that they can make a difference. However, I am a product of the Cold War and have a very different view of the socialist rhetoric and bent of the Democrat Party and that of the NEA.
It is disappointing to see those who have a great influence on the Valley’s school age children adorn themselves in the red cloak of socialism.
Why promote Red For Ed?
Why not Alaska colors and something other than an openly Marxist meme that is using education as a guise to influence local elections with the goal of turning this country into the dreary grey failure of the former Soviet Union?
Red For Ed is an organization that was founded by Noah Karvelis and Derek Harris, both acolytes of Bernie Sanders, the openly communist Democrat candidate for President.
The NEA stands openly on the side of the socialist/Marxist Left.
Red For Ed is openly promoted and supported by the teachers’ unions, which the union movement in this country was founded by communists as a way of uniting the workers against capitalism. Fortunately, that movement failed in its primary goals--the destruction of the sovereignty of the United States and the founding of a one world communist government.
The purpose of the Red For Ed movement is to influence elections to advance a socialist agenda. The guise is improving teachers’ wages.
The pay issue is a red herring.
Do those in red in the picture on the front page of the Frontiersman realize that they are backing Marxism, not education, that they serve an evil that is contrary to our values and ideals and detrimental to their charges and their own families?
Have they ever wondered why the NEA is so ardently opposed to armed guards and armed staff that would prevent school shootings?
Have they ever wondered why the education unions back the policies that keep violent kids in schools in the face of numerous teacher and student complaints? (Read “Why Meadow Died” by Andrew Pollack and Max Eden)
The joke here is that these people in Red For Ed colors are demanding more money in the face of failure. Alaska rates 50th in 4th grade reading and writing. Yet, our education budgets are the highest in the nation. We pay about $17,000 per student in developed Alaska, and about $30,000 per student in the Bush, off the road system. And, the NEA and Red For Ed want to continue that failure, rather than remedy it?
This slide to failure has been happening in this country since the 60s. According the CATO Institute, the cost of education has more than doubled from 1970-2010. Literacy has not improved.
There is no cost/performance or accountability promised by the education unions and the teachers in any wage negotiation, there is just a demand for more money. More money without accountability has led to a failure in education nationwide. Especially in Alaska.
Dumb down the end product, and you get a compliant population.
Term your agenda ‘for the kids’ and it is hard for anyone not to pay more.
What have we gotten for that more, and more, and more? Schools where education is secondary to socialist ideology, promoting perversion and aberrant behavior, rather than traditional family values, and teaching that our history, culture and law are not exceptional.
Schools where God is absent, but atheism, paganism, satanism, and Islam are not.
The Great American Revolution is treated as nothing exceptional and the country it produced inferior to any third world spit hole on this earth.
Yet, the evil of communism is couched in benign, harmless sounding terms like “progressive”, “liberal” and “socialist” to hide the reality of the tyrannical and oppressive outcome of any socialist revolution, while our own history is described in terms of being the “evil” outcome of racism, slavery and greed.
Why are Charter Schools so popular, if the public schools are successful?
Why is homeschooling on the rise, and why are the number of private schools and academies growing in the face of the massive taxpayer funded public education system?
Why is classroom violence in public schools increasing across the country?
Alaska is 50th in education, not first, last.
Even Mississippi schools now surpass Alaska’s schools in literacy.
A dumbed down population is a compliant population.
If you love your kids, get them out of the public school, into a Charter or private school, or homeschool them. Failure should not be rewarded and we should not allow ourselves to be held hostage to the NEA’s lie of “we must do this for the kids”.
