Alaska Wildlife Troopers issued a number of citations and warnings to a Wasilla couple following an investigation for suspected violations. Police cited 54-year-old Glyn Prulhiere for a false statement on a license application, obtaining a dipnet permit illegally, hunting without appropriate tags, hunting caribou outside of Game Management Unit 13, obtaining a caribou general harvest tag with Tier I permit in household, and falsification of sworn statement.
Troopers issued warnings to Prulhiere for obtaining a permit for a resident moose, resident bear, and resident caribou while being a nonresident. Malinda Prulhiere, 51, received warnings for making a false statement on a license application, hunting caribou outside GMU 13, and obtaining a general harvest tag for caribou with Tier I Permit in household.
According to reports, troopers investigated the Prulhieres on Jan. 7. Investigation revealed Malinda Prulhiere was not a resident when she purchased a resident license in 2014. It was also discovered that Malinda Prulhiere obtained a general caribou harvest tag while Glyn Prulhiere obtained a Tier I caribou permit along with a general caribou permit. Police say Glyn Prulhiere also harvested a brown bear in GMU 26, an area open to registration hunts only. It’s alleged that while sealing the bear, Glyn Prulhiere falsified a sworn statement intentionally misleading a fish and game agent as to the location of the kill site to meet location stipulations.
Court dates have been set for Barrow and Palmer court. A brown bear hide, skull and rifle were seized as evidence.
