Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident William Leonard Loe, 58, died at his home on Dec. 19, 2004. A public visitation was held Sunday, Dec. 26, at Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Wasilla.
Mr. Loe was born to Vivian and Leonard T. Loe on June 14, 1946, in Norfolk, Neb. He was born on his grandfather Harvey Brown's birthdate, which was June 14, 1873, and the two were inseparable until Harvey Brown passed away in September 1956.
In October 1950, Mr. Loe's family moved to Paso Robles, Calif. In 1953, the family moved to Grenada, Calif., and in 1957 the family moved back to their home in Paso Robles.
Mr. Loe attended the First Baptist Church in his youth. He left high school and started his lifelong career in concrete, carpentry and construction at 16 years of age.
In 1964, the Loe family moved to Ashland, Ore. Mr. Loe moved to Alaska in 1982. He enjoyed his work, baseball, snowmachining, hunting, fishing, cooking and much more.
His family wrote, "Dad will be missed by his family and friends and those
who knew him, as he was one who always wanted to give help to anyone."
Mr. Loe is survived by his wife, Agnes L. Loe; parents, Vivian and Leonard Loe of Colusa, Calif.; brothers, Robert H. Loe of Medford, Ore. and Donald T. Loe of Yreka, Calif.; sisters, Sally L. Loe of Elk Grove, Calif.,
Mary E. Freitas of
Montague,
Calif. and Judy K. Tiernan
of Colusa, Calif.; sons, Michael Loe of Palmer, Daniel Loe of San Diego and Glenn Baybado of Wasilla; daughters, Teresa Sonera of Portland, Ore., Tammy Solver of Springfield, Ore., Shalinda Kaalakea of Wasilla and Shawana Shannon of Big Lake; great-grandchildren, Travis and Tarin; 15
grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
